Google Inc.
said that it is ready to replace its Wi-Fi network in downtown Mountain View
which will make the area a ‘free’ outdoor wireless hotspot.
On Tuesday
night the Mountain View City Council voted to approve a new five-year contract
with Google Inc. which will be in charge of the installation.
Google Inc.
also gave a $500,000 grant to install and maintain networks at several city
wide community facilities.
Mountain
View’s eight-year old existing Wi-Fi network has had some problems with
reliability and performance.
